Case Study 1: Harrison vs Mack http://benedict.com/audio/Harrison/Harrison.aspx
The first time I listened to the two tracks I thought that Robert Mack was on as many drugs as George Harrison for suing. I think it was the difference of male vs female voices that got me. Then I listened again and sang over the top of each song and the similarities were astonishing.
Melodies were very similar and the "dolang " bit by the Chiffons fit into My Sweet Love very easily. Chordal structure very similar except for Mack's version has a turn around that Harrison's doesn't. Tempo and rythm also very simalar but the lyrics weren't so similar as Harrisons version was quite repititive.
Case study 2: Lebus woods vs 12 monkeys http://www.benedict%20.com/Visual/Monkeys/Monkeys.aspx
The fact that the director had viewed the chair and continued to use it is bad enough but the chair is so similar its disgusting. I wish someone would copy some of my work so I can get a 6 Figure settlement.
Case study 3: Keir Smith http://keirdotnet.net/projects/ohsocriminal/
The question was is it illegal. Under the law as it stands you cant copy and change stuff without permission. But it doesnt seem as though its for personal monetary gain so who cares? I think its cool!
Youtube and Flickr terms of use
I read both terms of use on youtube and terms of service on flickr and couldn't really tell the difference. They both specify that uplaod copyright material and use their site or submissions to their site for commercial gain but I found it rank that they can use any submitted material in any way they feel nessesary. It was so hard to understand ( because its written in gobblety gook ) so in this instance I felt I wouldn't upload any thing to my blog. "have you read and ticked the terms of use" screens and the like are ususlly just in the way of doing what most people want anyway so with a couple of clicks it is out the way and you can get get into what you want. Ignorance is bliss untill one is caught out.

This is pretty cool! I pretty sure I cant lisence stuff on blogger but it will be useful when I get my own site up and running. The reason I wuold have a web site in the first place would be to sell stuff on it so I would have the most restrictive setting in this case.
